This summer the Concert Hall has traded the sounds of violins and trombones for those of hammering and drilling.
That’s right, you guessed it (or didn’t) - the Kennedy Center Concert Hall is getting a new pipe organ!
Man, we can’t wait for those 8 weeks of tonal finishing…
Welcome to the latest Tumblr Tuesday, where we share some of our favorite random Tumblr blogs of this very moment.

Cat Virtuoso Plays Debussy From Memory
An area cat has been wowing classical music fans with his piano rendition of Claude Debussy’s Clair de lune. The amazing part: no sheet music.
He’s been playing the piece from memory, and his performances are “flawless,” according to one music critic.
Via Luana Mariano.
Looking forward to seeing you some day at the Kennedy Center, area cat!
We’re celebrating Leap Day today by getting very excited about all the upcoming events of the Kennedy Center’s Music of Budapest, Prague, and Vienna Festival. Our Maestro, Christoph Eschenbach, is also the Music Director of the Kennedy Center, and he’s leading the charge in both planning and performing in these events. To get a sense of everything he and the NSO are doing in the upcoming weeks, listen to his recent interview with WETA. There’s so much to choose from! (Just hearing about it makes us want to take Deb Lamberton’s protein shake suggestion!)
Like Leap Year, this is a rare opportunity—so get your tickets soon!
